Gulfstream Announces G700 Performance Increases

Gulfstream Aerospace has announced range and speed increases, along with improvements in cabin altitude, for its new G700 business jet. The model will now offer a range of 7,750 NM, a 250-NM improvement over original estimates, and a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.935, up from Mach 0.925. Cabin altitude has been reduced to 2,840 feet at 41,000 feet. Gulfstream noted that the speed increase will make the G700 the fastest in the company’s fleet.

“We are undertaking one of the most extensive flight test programs as the G700 is the first business aircraft to undergo Federal Aviation Administration certification following the passage of the 2020 Aircraft Certification, Safety, and Accountability Act,” said Gulfstream President Mark Burns. “As a result, we will be delivering an extremely mature, rigorously tested aircraft that will outperform expectations in speed, range and cabin comfort.”

Gulfstream officially introduced the G700 at the 2019 National Business Aviation Association Convention & Exhibition. The company reports that its flight test aircraft have logged more than 4,100 test hours to date with two fully outfitted production-test aircraft setting over 45 city-pair speed records with approximately 246,000 NM flown. The model is nearing the end of its flight test program, with Burns stating that certification efforts continue to advance.
