ADS-B For Specialized Fleet Operations

Equipping a large commercial GA fleet for the ADS-B mandate is both costly and challenging, especially for operators that have specialized aircraft. One operator in Rhode Island—Simmons Aviation Services—has a large fleet of aircraft used for aerial advertising, plus vintage warbirds. It recently certified aircraft with the budget-based ($1999) uAvionix tailBeacon ADS-B product, but not without some challenges. For this video, Aviation Consumer Editor Larry Anglisano spent the day observing the installations and talked with A&P Paul Pelletier and Simmons Aviation’s Mark Simmons about how to equip specialized models.
