Pilgrimage to Where It All Began
Arriving at KFFA, First Flight Airport at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. Runway 2-20 is adjacent to the Wright Brothers Memorial. You step out of your airplane and walk across the ramp and into history.
That's the memorial at the top of the stabilized dune in the middle of the big circle on the left of the picture; to the right is the site of those first four flights on December 17, 1903. The 2003 reproduction of the 1903 Wright Flyer is inside the museum on the right. A required pilgrimage for all pilots sometime during your flying lifetime.
Taken with Nikon D90 18-200 VR; resized and a little of the summer haze removed in Photoshop.
