AVweb’s weekly news roundup uncovered reports on a new suite of weather data products, a Department of Defense contract award and a line of dynamometers for testing electric motor efficiency. Weather intelligence provider Baron is introducing its Aviation Weather suite of aviation weather data products. Baron Aviation Weather features weather tracking and forecasting tools including winds and temperatures aloft, global IR satellite, global lightning and mid- and high-level significant weather along with the company’s Flight Cross Section and Global Radar products.

North Carolina-based Jet Logistics has announced that it is one of a group of fixed-wing, STOL and rotorcraft operators to be awarded the Department of Defense U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) WASP-135 contract. The domestic and international airlift services contract is valued at up to $5.7 billion. Finally, SAKOR Technologies is introducing a line of dynamometer systems designed to test and verify electric motor efficiency in accordance with a series of national and international standards. The units can be used to test two to eight pole motors ranging from 10 watts to more than 3 megawatts.
